Our Story
PlatOps was founded in 2014 in Bethesda, Maryland, with a simple observation: small and mid-sized businesses were being underserved by the IT security industry. Enterprise vendors offered complex, expensive solutions designed for Fortune 500 companies. Boutique shops provided limited expertise and couldn't scale. Neither understood the unique challenges of growing businesses.
Our founders came from enterprise security and cloud infrastructure backgrounds-years at companies like AWS, Microsoft, and federal defense contractors. They saw an opportunity to bring that expertise to organizations that needed it most but couldn't afford traditional consulting rates or justify a full-time security team.
We started small, helping local healthcare practices and financial advisors meet their compliance requirements. Word spread. A healthcare technology startup needed help passing their first SOC 2 audit. A growing SaaS company needed to migrate to Kubernetes without breaking their deployment pipeline. A government contractor needed cleared engineers to modernize their infrastructure.
Today, we serve over 100 clients across healthcare, finance, government, SaaS, and more. Our team has grown, but our approach hasn't changed: senior engineers only, direct client relationships, and security built into everything we do.
We're still based in Bethesda, with team members across the United States. We're still founder-led and profitable-no venture capital, no pressure to grow at all costs. Just a team of experts focused on doing great work for clients who trust us with their most critical systems.
